LEGO : Building Airplane by only using Classic10698

This is a series of LEGO self-making only using LEGO Classic10698! As the another version of “How to build airplane” which is previously published, I’d builded a middle-sized passenger plane this time. I also published a building instruction of original airplane using 10696 series, please jump onto the end of this page if you are interested! This maybe a world-biggest work of LEGO airplane only using 10698 series.

THE SERIES OF LEGO USED

We offer you to ONLY USING the blocks bundled in「LEGO Classic 10698」. There are 33 different colors of blocks altogether,
tyres,windows,doors,spinning-table,arms and bases are also packaged and it provide you unlimited creativity.

The picture below is the parts required. You may rotate your smartphone when it is unclear.

Find these items from your classic 10698 or pick up the same form of blocks from different LEGO series. The colors does not matter, but the shape has to be exactly same.




OK, Let’s move on

These three blocks above build a “Base”. Use all big and thin boards in 10698. The green board will be a “Main Wing”, it could have been better in different colour but keep going.


Unite these blocks like a picture above. The yellow block will be a cockpit-side.


We build a back side next.


Combine these parts in order from the end.


Refer to the image, turn it  over and put these blocks by following the arrow.


We are doing this for extending the base.


These blocks fill the gap between the base and main wing.


Maintain the back body as same height as the front side and let’s build a tailplane in the meantime.


Place dense grey board on pale grey board. This will be a tailplane.


Now move on to build a “Upper-body”.
Set all parts in order like a picture.


There has to be a line of space in front a tailplane.


And these four blocks will be united to frontside.


Like this.


 Then we build a under-cockpit. Find these blocks which can unite parts on its side and above.


Place them such as putting hands together.


These are parts for the tip nose of airplane. It was quite tough to decide which blocks should be selected.


Firstly, embed a small purple circle to sky blue colored parts.


 This is a beautiful streamline shape, isn’t it?


Now let’s make “Cockpit” and “Guest room”. Combine these blocks from the back.


This will be a “Roof”.


Like this, it covers well.



“A vertical sutabilizer” is coming next.




Place it end of the body. Now you’ve done making whole body.




Finally we build a “Main Wing”. Put these blocks together.


We use these blocks this time.


Be careful with the position of the beige colored block under the blue board. This is placed at front in this picture. “Intake Port” of engine will be combined to this block. 


As you can see, a “Engine” is built. Now we build parts to extend the “Main Wing”.


 It looks like a old handy camera, huh? This is what you need to build.




The red arrow is a navigation light.
And other blocks will be...


Like this. Opposite side need to be symmetric.  It may better using mirror to build another main wing.


Use these two grey boards to combine the “Main Wings”. Insert the a hollow of “Body Engine” to the end of green bars and cover it over with the grey boards.



Cover the green boards with these blocks to decrease the weird colored matching.




At last, fit these eight sky blue blocks to the “Body” and root of “Main Wings”.



Well done! You did it!

Editor’s Note

I had several choice of blocks when I built the Small plain previously, but this time it was quite tough since useful blocks are limited. It can be said that it was harder than building F1. 
However, I noticed that there is not a large number of instruction to build airplane utilizing 10698 series. It may help somebody, I reckon. What I aimed in this instruction is ease of building, but please comment for further options or something I could do better.
